Analysing Open Guard Techniques to Beat Them

For some, Friday night is their favourite training session of the week – numbers ranging from ten to twenty – it’s like a club within the club – Mondays and Thursdays being very busy with lots of fun and many training partners. Saturday’s exclusively No-Gi sessions are seeing climbing attendance too – all very pleasing as we finish our eighth training hour in Kingston, for the week.

Nice also to be looking at a couple of new high percentage takedowns – benefiting from the nothing short of exceptional experience of Leo Negao – who practiced a lot of Judo in Brazil, with some very high level Japanese teachers. Adding in a couple of big difference little details is making learning very exciting.

Lastly, escaping the half-guard has featured heavily this week with three nice directions to take depending on the opponent’s body positioning and reaction.
