We focus on Gracie Jiu Jitsu self defence and share our time between standing defences and clinching - and ground based positions and submissions.
Consistency is king, regardless of the number of sessions you can attend per week. As we get older, our careers and family commitments are sometimes greater - but this doesn't mean we have to give up physical activity or learning something new.
Our interest lies in getting people beyond the ten-year mark, who practice Jiu Jitsu for life.
The format for adult BJJ classes is the same as the white belts only session - a gentle warm-up, technical work - learning new submissions and defences, plus lots of repetition. We believe it's better to work towards mastery of the positions, submissions and defences that are used 95% of the time rather than channelling precious time into techniques that are infrequently used or ineffective. We are striving to become black belt level at all the core techniques.
Our classes provide self defence skills, an opportunity to exercise and learn something new - and a social outlet.
