Get Started With BJJ at Kingston BJJ

Get started with BJJ at Kingston BJJ, read on for the big picture. Getting started with BJJ is often the hard part. You haven’t been to your first of three free trial lessons at Kingston BJJ https://kingstonbjj.com/free-class-offer/, therefore you have nothing to lose yet, nothing to keep going.

Get started and make your weekly lessons and training, your lifestyle.

Some worry about the warm up. In addition, some think that the sparring we do (we call it ‘training’) will leave them feeling exhausted. The training we do is physically demanding, however, one of the reasons people want to start BJJ at Kingston BJJ is to improve their fitness. Above all, we take member care very seriously and make sure your first ‘roll’ is a memorable and enjoyable experience. The training is pretty much defined by the pace and intensity you set. Going slow is a great place to start. Training should ignite enthusiasm. We’re also quite happy for people to watch the training. Watching can give you a better idea of what it’s all about. There’s nothing wrong with watching.

The fact is, very few are that fit when they arrive for their first lesson, most aren’t. You don’t need to be, either. Our mission is to ensure you have a fantastic first BJJ lesson and want to come back for more. If we don’t achieve this, we’ve failed.

All the members at Kingston BJJ use their training sessions to gently improve their fitness and then maintain it. Most members at Kingston BJJ do two lessons a week. Slow and steady wins the day.

Our warm up is very light, it’s not a test of physical fitness, nor is it a conditioning session. Our warm up prepares us for manageable exercise.

Now is the time to decide which two nights a week you would like to have your BJJ lessons. And once you decide, these are now your training nights and your plan is to stick to your schedule.

The wrong way to approach training is to not have set nights and to come along as and when you feel like it. This approach can often lead to inconsistency. Being consistent is the key to steady progress.
